Have you ever heard a quote that sounded like a heavy, locked gate? For centuries, one particular line has often been used to build walls instead of opening doors:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

When we read this with our everyday, problem-solving mind, it can easily sound like a kind of exclusive VIP club.

As if someone is standing at the door saying, “Sorry… not you.”

As if there is only one right way, and unless you have the correct membership, you are not allowed in.

And there it is: separation. An “us” who got it right, and a “them” who apparently missed the heavenly guest list.

But what if we have misunderstood the speaker?

What if the speaker was not speaking as a separate human ego with a private religious agenda, but from the awareness of Christ, the one Self we all share?

Then the sentence changes completely.

It is no longer a threat. It is no longer a locked gate. It is a loving direction inward.

It says: you cannot come to the Father through fear, judgment, superiority, argument, or belief in separation. You come Home only through Truth, through Life, through the living presence of Love itself.

And that presence is not outside you.

It is the quiet “I Am” before the story of “me” begins. Before your age, your history, your worries, your opinions, and your impressive little collection of spiritual membership cards.

You know those moments when you sit quietly on the couch, take off your glasses, and for a second drop the heavy backpack of being a person? There is just simple being. No performance. No defense. No need to prove anything.

That is not a private little self. That is the doorway to the Self.

So perhaps the sentence does not mean: “Only those who believe the correct doctrine may enter.”

Perhaps it means: “Only what is true in you can know Truth. Only Love can return to Love. Only Life can know the Father, because Life has never left Him.”

The door is not locked.

The bouncer has gone for coffee.

And the best part?…….You were never outside!

With love and light,

G
