Someone once said to me: “Go to the space behind your eyes.”

I have done that many times, I literally go to the space behind my eyes.

When I really stay there, something happens….the space is immense.

So immense that the usual sense of being a body begins to disappear.

It is almost as if the body turns inside out. Instead of experiencing myself as a person inside a body, looking out at a universe, the body itself seems to appear inside an endless space.

And then, for a moment, there is no clear boundary anymore between me and that dark universe…without forms.

Just space, and above all…Stillness.

The mind cannot really understand this, because the mind always wants to locate things: here is my body, there is the world, here am I, there are you.

But in stillness those divisions become less convincing.

Thought may still appear. Sensations may still appear. The body is still here. The world continues.

But beneath all of it there is something vast and unmoving.

A silence that was never created.

A presence that does not begin with the body and does not seem to end at the skin.

Perhaps this is why true stillness feels so familiar.

We are not entering something new. We are recognizing what was here before the story of “me” began. And in that moment, there is nothing to achieve, nothing to defend, nothing to become.

Only this vast, silent presence.

Empty of everything we thought we were.

And yet full of everything.

Perhaps stillness is not something we experience.

Perhaps stillness is what we are.

With love and light,

Gonny
