You are sitting in a theater. The curtains open. On the stage, a play unfolds—filled with drama, comedy, suspense, and unexpected twists. Some scenes touch you deeply, others make you laugh, and every now and then, you shout “Boo!” in frustration when an actor overacts or forgets their lines.
And then… like a flashback, you suddenly realize something incredible:
This play? This entire spectacle? You wrote it.
Your eyes widen in astonishment… The set, every actor, every event, every apparent coincidence, every movement takes on a new meaning, they are all part of a script that you created. You also realize that because you were so deeply immersed in the story, you had forgotten that it was just a play.
What happens now that you know? The moment you realize that this is all just a theatrical performance, your experience changes completely:
Drama? You watch with fascination instead of fear.
Comedy? You laugh even harder, knowing the joke was always there.
Mystery? You enjoy the suspense without getting lost in it.
A ‘bad’ actor on stage? Instead of getting angry, you simply shout “Boo!” and remind yourself (to fire him
) that they, too, are just playing a role in your story .
The trick is to allow yourself to be moved (not too much) by the performance without forgetting that it is just a performance.
You can cry during a dramatic scene, yet still know it isn’t real.
That is the freedom of a playwright who has awakened within their own creation. They can now say:
“What a wonderful (or terrible) play I have written, but fortunately, I now know that I am more. I am the writer of the entire script.”
At that moment, the illusion ends, and a truth is revealed, one more beautiful than any story ever written. The spectator disappears. The stage dissolves. What remains is silence, peace, and a deep smile of recognition.
And you? You finally understand that it was never real. But what a performance it was!
So: keep watching, keep enjoying, and don’t forget to laugh out loud every now and then.
After all, it’s your play!
With love and light,
G.
