Sometimes you read something on Facebook that makes you raise an eyebrow. Like this:
“Being born is a crucifixion. How could it be anything other than that, when you take this abstract, universal, eternal, and infinite Love of God, which is what you are, and you stuff it into a body?”
Well, there you are, sipping your tea with a croissant, only to find out that you’ve just been crucified! Meanwhile, you were under the impression that you were simply born… right?
What Does A Course in Miracles Say?
ACIM has a clear take on crucifixion:
-Jesus was not a sacrifice – The crucifixion was not a punishment or a tragic offering but a lesson in forgiveness. Lesson 201 reminds us: “I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.”
-The body is a neutral tool – It can be used to express either fear or love, depending on the mind that directs it.
-The resurrection is the message, not the crucifixion – ACIM teaches that the real takeaway from Jesus’ story isn’t suffering but overcoming illusion. “Suffering is not of God, and you do not need it.”
In other words: we are not victims of birth or the body. We are free minds who can remember who we truly are.
But What About Being “Trapped” in a Body?
Here’s another perspective: what if being born doesn’t mean you’re stuck, but rather that you simply chose a new experience? What if your infinite consciousness decided: Hey, let’s see what it’s like to play on Earth!
You are not stuffed into a body; you project an experience.
You are not limited by form; you use form as a learning tool.
The body is not a prison; it’s a VR headset for the soul.
That’s quite a difference. One perspective says, “Too bad, you’re stuck, crucified, tough luck.” The other says, “Congratulations! You’re on an adventure. What will you do with it?”
So… Crucifixion or Opportunity?
Maybe the real question isn’t what birth is but how you look at it. If you see it as a limitation, it feels heavy. But if you see it as an opportunity to remember and share love, it becomes an adventure.
And let’s be honest—if we’re here anyway, we might as well make the most of it. Otherwise, we’re just sitting around sulking with our tea and croissant, and that would be a waste.
What do you choose today?
With love and light,
