Imagine this: a room full of people. The music starts softly, gradually building. Feet tap cautiously, hips sway, and soon everyone is moving. Some dance with a partner, others on their own, but everyone feels the same thing—a joy flowing through the space like an invisible thread connecting everyone. Isn’t this what A Course in Miracles teaches us? Love is what connects us all, and dancing seems to be one of its purest expressions.
ACIM reminds us that we are not our bodies. But what if we consider the body as an instrument to play the music of love? Through dancing, we put the ego’s energy on pause and tune into the melody of our inner guide. It doesn’t matter if you perform a perfectly executed pirouette or simply sway to the rhythm of your favorite pop song—movement liberates. And in that liberation, the truth is revealed: we are not separate; we are one.
Meditation is often seen as sitting still, but who says you can’t meditate while moving? When you dance freely—without choreography, without judgment, without fear—you allow yourself to be fully present in the moment. The thoughts that usually buzz through your mind fade away. What remains is a deep inner peace, as if you merge with the music. You don’t lose yourself in the dance; you remember who you truly are. And as ACIM says: “In stillness, everything is resolved.”
Sometimes, people are afraid to dance. They fear looking ‘silly.’ But in truth, that is just the ego worrying. Dancing invites us to take the step from fear to love. Because no matter who you are or where you come from, when the music plays and you move, there is no space for judgment—not from others, and not from yourself. Humor is a great help here.
Imagine an afterlife where everyone moves joyfully in a polonaise through the universe, an angel leading the way while everyone follows. This image teaches us something profound: dancing is a collective expression of joy. It invites us to come together, to be in harmony, and to simply have fun. Perhaps this is what we most often forget on the spiritual journey—that laughing and enjoying ourselves are just as sacred.
So, turn up the music, move, and let the light of love flow through you.
Love and light
