Gratitude is not a polite word whispered after receiving something.
It is a current.
A living cosmic frequency moving through the heart.
It rises when we stop for a moment and notice that Love is already here.
In A Course in Miracles, Lesson 195 says: Love is the way I walk in gratitude.
Not gratitude because of love.
Not gratitude for love.
But gratitude as love itself.
The two are inseparable.
This is why gratitude has nothing to do with comparison.
It is not saying, “I’m thankful because I have more than someone else.”
That is the ego’s way…gratitude as a subtle form of separation.
True gratitude is the recognition that God’s Love has never left you.
And when you feel it…even for a second…something shifts.
The body relaxes.
The mind opens.
The heart becomes soft.
Gratitude can appear in the most ordinary places.
A sudden smile from a stranger on the street.
A thunderclap that makes you shiver and laugh at the same time.
Even in moments of challenge, when forgiveness is called for, gratitude is waiting, whispering: Here is another chance to remember who you are.
Lesson 195 reminds us that to be grateful is to walk in Love, to carry Love into every step, every glance, every breath.
Gratitude is not a response to what happens, it is the recognition of what is.
Every instant offers the same invitation:
to pause,
to let the flow of gratitude wash through you,
to feel the sweetness of being alive in God’s Love.
You do not have to force it.
You do not have to make lists or rehearse reasons.
You only need to notice.
And in that noticing, gratitude takes over.
It holds you.
And in its embrace you remember:
Love is the only gift, and it has already been given.
With love and light,
G.
