Some lessons in A Course in Miracles are not just meant to be read; they are meant to be felt. They reach deep into your being, as if they were written just for you. Lesson 78 is one of those lessons. It is a key that unlocks the door to a new way of seeing, a new way of living. And perhaps most importantly, it is a lesson that sets you free.
We are so used to looking at others through the filter of pain and disappointment. We see people through the lens of our grievances: the annoying neighbor, the family member who never understands us, the friend who once hurt us, and even an irritating politician.
How often do we hold these grievances like a shield before our eyes, as if we are protecting ourselves? But are we really protecting ourselves? Or are we closing ourselves off from something much greater—the possibility of experiencing a miracle?
Today’s lesson asks something of you. Something that may seem impossible at first. It asks you to look beyond the grievance. Beyond the annoyance, beyond the pain, beyond the disappointment, beyond the irritation. It asks you to see your savior in the one you might consider your enemy.
Does that sound absurd? Maybe. But if we’re honest, how well has our old way of seeing worked? How often has holding onto grievances truly helped us? How often has it brought us peace?
The miracle is waiting. Always. It stands ready, just behind that one thought of pain. It is not something you need to earn or work hard for. It is already there. All you have to do is choose to look at it.
(Remember the big Shift – from darkness to Light)
Imagine choosing one person today. One person you have seen only through their faults. Maybe someone who irritates you, maybe someone who has hurt you. Bring them to mind and notice what happens in your body. Feel the resistance.
Now….take a deep breath and ask for a new vision. Ask to see the truth beyond the illusion.
What if you could see this person as they truly are? Not through the lens of your past, not through the eyes of fear, but through the eyes of love. What if you could see them as God sees them?
When you do this, something magical happens. The person may not change, but your experience of them does. And that is the real freedom.
It is a gift you give to yourself.
This lesson is not just about the other person. It is about you. Every grievance you hold is a weight on your shoulders. Every time you keep someone trapped in your mind, you are the one who remains imprisoned.
So the choice is simple:
Do you want to suffer? Or do you want to be free?
Do you want to continue seeing the world as a place of obstacles, misunderstandings, and pain? Or do you want to see the miracle that is waiting everywhere?
You don’t have to do this alone. The miracle is not an achievement, it is a gift. Ask, and you will receive. Open your eyes, and you will see.
Today, you can try. One person. One moment. One miracle.
It is closer than you think.
Let miracles replace all grievances.
With love and light,
G.
