How the ego makes sense of all.

(Based on ACIM- Ch.23.II..The Laws of Chaos)

Sometimes it’s almost impressive how clever the ego is.

It starts with a simple thought, something that sounds quite reasonable, even a bit spiritual.

“Everyone has their own truth.”

Sounds fair, right? But if everyone has their OWN TRUTH… then whose truth is true?

Do you see? Suddenly, it’s not about truth anymore, but about difference.

And when difference becomes important, comparison sneaks in.

Then judgment. Then conflict.

And before you know it, you’re not discussing truth…you’re picking sides.

If we’re all separate, and everyone’s truth is different, then someone

must be wrong. Someone must have made a mistake, or worse: a sin.

Probably you. Or them. Or both.

And so the ego gently whispers,

“Well, of course you’re not perfect. Nobody is. EVERYONE MUST SIN”.

And we nod.

And carry on.

Now, the mind begins to look for who’s guilty, because guilt always needs a place to land.

So eventually… it lands on God.

Not directly, of course. That would be too obvious.

The ego’s smarter than that.

It says: “God must be disappointed in you.” Or “God loves you, but probably from a distance.” Or even “God is love, but justice too…”

And slowely, you’re reforcing the FEAR OF GOD.

You’re asking for forgiveness but bracing for thunder.

You’re seeking peace, but also hiding.

And when you believe you’ve fallen from grace, the world turns into a game of grabbing.

The ego says: “If you want to have something, you’d better GO GET IT.

It’s limited. Everyone’s looking. Protect what you have. Take what you need.”

And now, what once was given freely… becomes a contract.

And because all of this feels kind of awful, the ego offers a solution.

SUBSTITUTION! ….especially a substitution of Love.

Not real love, but the kind that looks like it.

Perform well and I’ll love you…….Meet my needs and I’ll stay.

Make me feel good, and I won’t leave……We call it normal.

But deep down, something aches.

The beauty is: when you see the logic, you don’t have to fight it.

You just see the flow. One ego thought rolling into the next.

It’s not personal. It’s just how the ego works.

And the moment you stop trying to swim against it,

you notice something else………Another current underneath.

Quieter. Still.

Not pushing. Not demanding.

Just waiting.

Waiting for you to ask:

“What if I was wrong about all of this?”

“What if truth isn’t personal?”

“What if no one’s guilty?”

“What if God never changed His mind about me?”

“What if there is enough?”

“What if love never left?”

And just like that ….you’ve left the laws of chaos behind.

Not by force, but by remembering

what was always true.

With love and light,

G.
