Asking within an illusion to prove the illusion is real.

That’s what happens every time the ego tries to understand itself: illusion asking illusion for confirmation.

It’s like a hallucination trying to analyze itself.

ā€˜Nothing’ cannot make ā€˜something’ by studying it, arguing about it, or decorating it with spiritual words.

As Lesson 1 reminds us: ā€œNothing I see means anything.ā€

The entire world we perceive…including the body, the past, the stars, and our opinions…is part of this hallucination.

It’s not sinful, but it’s not real either. It is simply the projection of a

confused mind that asked the impossible question:

ā€œCan I exist apart from God?ā€

And the instant that question was asked, the answer was already given:

No, you cannot, because separation cannot be real. If separation were real, God would not be God. For God is Oneness …God is All That Is … and therefore nothing can exist outside of Him.

And still…here we are, trying to prove we exist!

And we also want God to know we exist!

We say, ā€œIf God created everything, He must have created the ego too.ā€

That’s like saying the sun created darkness! Impossible.

The ego shouts: ā€œI am here, I feel (pinch my arm), I suffer…that means I am real!ā€

The Holy Spirit whispers: ā€œYou are not who you think you are. You are the Son of God Himself: eternal, changeless, (present, sane) and at peace.ā€

Only one of these voices can be true.

The other is the sound of an illusion talking to itself.

Duality begins with the belief that cause and effect are separate.

It creates a gap…a space. And that space is filled with billions of ideas, the ideas of time and form: bodies, stars, stories, opinions, hallucinations…the birthplace of the dream.

It’s the space where the mind tries to insert itself as a third thing:

not quite God, not quite nothing, but a separate self trying to survive between what is real and what is imagined.

Yet that gap doesn’t actually exist. It’s a thought held in place by belief.

Remove the belief, and the gap disappears, along with the entire world that seemed to arise from it.

That’s why the Course says:

ā€œThere is no world apart from what you wish.ā€ (W-132.5:1)

What you wish.

When the mind (wish) joins cause and effect again, when it remembers that it never left its Source, duality dissolves.

There is only Oneness: no before or after, no giver and receiver, no question and answer.

Just the quiet awareness: ā€œI Am.ā€

And perhaps, in that silence, even the dream smiles back, before disappearing altogether.

With love and light,

G.
