(Matthew 18:12–14)

“What do you think?

If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away,

will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills

and go to look for the one that wandered off?

And if he finds it, truly I tell you,

he is happier about that one sheep

than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off.

In the same way your Father in Heaven

is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.”

We all know that feeling…waking up one day and realizing you’ve wandered a little too far.

Not through the desert maybe, but into your inbox, your worries, your shopping list.

You meant to meditate, but somehow ended up arguing with a toaster or your neighbor’s cat.

That’s when you start to feel like the lost sheep.

You didn’t mean to get lost; you just followed one small thought that said,

“Let me handle this myself.”

And before you know it, you’re halfway down the hill thinking,

“Wait… how did I get here?”

The good news? The Shepherd doesn’t wait at the top of the hill tapping His foot.

He’s already walking toward you, humming softly,

probably shaking His head affectionately…not in disapproval, but in pure recognition.

Because He knows: you never really left.

In A Course in Miracles language, that Shepherd is the quiet Voice within

that keeps whispering even when your phone battery dies,

even when you’ve lost your patience or your peace:

“Hey… maybe we could turn around now?”

Forgiveness, then, is like finally stopping in your tracks,

looking up, and realizing you were never being chased…

you were being followed by Love the whole time.

The Course reminds us that no one is truly lost,

only momentarily distracted by the scenery.

We’re not sinners; we’re spiritual tourists who forgot to bring a map.

And the moment we laugh about it,

we’re already back on the Shepherd’s shoulders.

So next time you catch yourself deep in worry, judgment, or Google searches about the end of the world …. take a breath.

That’s your Shepherd calling.

And if you listen carefully, you might even hear Him chuckle and say,

“You really thought you could get lost in My universe? Cute.”

God’s Son cannot be lost, because He is one with His Source.

With love and light,

G.
