It sounds dramatic, doesn’t it?

“If I am bound, then my Father is not free.”

Surely God can’t be imprisoned. Not the Creator of all, not the Light itself.

And yet… the Course invites us to look again.

Because if I see myself as trapped in a body,

if I believe I’m stuck in time,

if I accept that sickness and death are real and inevitable…

then I have declared:

“This is my reality.”

And in doing so, I make God….Love, Truth, Oneness….seem absent.

Not because God is gone,

but because I’ve closed the curtains.

It’s a bit like yelling, “There’s no sun today!” while sitting in a dark basement with all the windows shut. The light is still there. But my belief becomes my experience.

Let’s bring it down to earth.

You wake up feeling heavy. Thoughts swirl. You remember that bill you forgot to pay, the message you still haven’t answered, that one thing you said yesterday you wish you hadn’t…

Suddenly, you’re carrying a laundry basket full of little guilts.

Nothing major.

But enough to make you feel not-so-light.

Now imagine saying, “God is Love, and I am His creation.”

But you don’t really believe it… not while that laundry basket is still in your arms.

You feel unworthy. And when you feel unworthy, you believe God must be disappointed in you.

And just like that…you’ve locked both yourself and your Creator in a prison of your own thoughts.

That’s what today’s lesson means.

God cannot be free in your mind if you’ve decided that guilt, punishment, and suffering are real.

But what If… it’s just a dream?

The Course tells us over and over:

This is not your reality. This is a dream of fear.

And dreams can feel very convincing….until you wake up.

You know that feeling when you wake from a nightmare?

Your heart races, your body is tense… but slowly you realize: It wasn’t real.

This lesson is the spiritual version of that moment.

It says:

Let go of the belief that you’re stuck in a world of death.

Let go of the belief that your mistakes define you.

Let go of the idea that God is far away.

Because if you’re dreaming of being trapped… God, in your mind,

becomes the jailer. And that’s the deepest illusion of all.

“If I’m not free right now, then I’ve forgotten who I really am.”

That’s not a reason to panic. It’s an invitation to remember.

You can set both yourself and your Father free not by doing more, fixing more, or striving more…

But by choosing again.

Truth is free. And so are You.

Wth love and light,

G.
