To be honest , the word Christ can trigger something in people.

For some, it feels sacred. For others, a bit heavy. And for many, it’s wrapped in centuries of religion, exclusivity, and solemnity.

But what if we wipe the dust off this word and see it for what it really is?

Let’s start at the root.

Christos in Greek means “anointed one.”

This might sound mysterious, but it’s quite simple:

The English word “anointed” means someone who has been blessed or consecrated…often by pouring oil on their head.

In ancient cultures, especially in the Middle East, anointing with oil was a sacred act. It marked someone as special…a king, a priest, or a prophet.

In the Bible, figures like David and Saul were “anointed” to show they had been chosen by God. The oil was seen as holy, a symbol of light, protection, and divine purpose.

But A Course in Miracles brings this symbol back to its essence.

Fortunately we don’t need oil or ceremony, because we are already anointed…by our very Creation….that’s a relieve!

We are created holy…and remain holy. That’s what Christ means.

According to A Course in Miracles, Christ isn’t a person..it’s our true Self.

The part of us that never left God. The part that cannot sin, cannot die, and cannot be divided.

It is the Light in us, still shining, even when our thoughts seem cloudy.

This Christ isn’t outside of us. He’s not waiting in the clouds with a clipboard.

He’s in our Mind …the holy, peaceful part that has never been confused, frightened, or lost.

So let’s be bold:

Can a Buddhist be Christ?

Yes.

Can a child with sticky fingers be Christ?

Yes.

Can you…yes you, reading this…be Christ?

You already are.

Christ is the link that keeps us united with God.

Christ is the place in us where all decisions are already made, where all dreams are already over, and where peace is our natural state.

Christ is the part of our Mind where the Holy Spirit whispers:

“None of this fear is true. Come Home.”

Some helpful synonyms for Christ might be:

– the Light in you

– the True Self

– the Innocence you never lost

– the Shared Being behind all forms

– the Smile of God within

And here’s the good news for all of us:

We don’t have to become Christ. We have to remember Christ.

Because we never stopped being Him.

So what does this mean in daily life?

It means that forgiveness is how we see through the illusion of separation.

It means that when we look at someone with love…really see them…we are seeing Christ.

And yes… that includes the person who cuts you off in traffic.

The one who forgot your birthday.

The one you call “me.”

“Seek to find Christ’s face and look on nothing else,” the Course says.

Not because you need to find someone else’s holiness…

…but because when you see It in another, you remember It in yourself.

And then the dream softens.

And then the world brightens.

And then …just maybe…we all wake up together.

“Christ is the Self we share, uniting us with one another, and with God as well.” (ACIM)

With love and light,

G.
