Let every voice be still in me except God’s

(Inspired by ACIM Lesson 254)

There are days when a lesson feels like a deep breath…like stepping into a quiet room where the world suddenly pauses. Today is one of those days.

The idea seems simple: Let every voice be still in me except God’s.

But if you take this seriously it might become one of the most revolutionary things you ever do, because our minds are usually filled with quite a crowd!

There’s the voice that reminds you what you forgot.

The voice that replays yesterday’s awkward moment.

The voice that worries about money, or time, or whether your friend misunderstood your message.

And the voice that judges them… and you… and even the weather.

And then… somewhere beneath all of that, there’s another Voice. A quiet one. A Voice that never panics, never blames, never rushes. It’s not louder than the others, but it’s truer. And that makes all the difference.

Today’s practice is not necessarily about sitting still for an hour, although you can do that too. It’s more like spiritual eavesdropping. We’re invited to listen, really listen, and notice when a voice in us does not come from Love.

And then… we step back. Not with drama or guilt, just with a smile:

“Ah, that was ego. Thanks for your input. You can go now.”

God’s Voice does not compete for attention. It’s never in a hurry. It doesn’t shout. It waits, like a raindrop waits the right moment to fall on your head, or a flower blooming waits for the sun, for us to become quiet enough to receive it.

You may hear It as a feeling.

You may hear It as a sudden clarity.

Or you may simply feel peace, not because something outside changed, but because you stopped believing the voice that said it had to.

Imagine standing in a long queue at the post office, feeling frustrated, thoughts racing. Suddenly you remember: “Wait… today I’m only listening to one Voice.” And just like that, the queue becomes a classroom. The waiting becomes holy. The silence becomes full.

Or you’re driving, late for an appointment, and the voice in your head says: “You’re failing again. You should’ve left earlier. This always happens.”

That’s your moment…Not to argue, not to fight, but to step back. To breathe. To tune into another station.

God’s Voice might not say anything in words. But you’ll feel It. A softness. A release. A reminder: Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God.

And the best part? This Voice is not a visitor. It’s Home.

Today we’re not trying to add anything to ourselves. We’re letting go of the noise that never belonged to begin with. And in that gentle letting go, we discover something breathtakingly simple:

We were never alone.

We were never broken.

We only forgot to listen.

With love and light,

G.
