The test of Truth ( and why the enlightened might be closer than you think. )

Sometimes, you see them scroll by, the people on social media, proclaiming with fiery conviction: “This is the truth!”

And when you gently ask, “How do you know that for sure?” …suddenly it goes silent. Or you get a lightning-fast YouTube link, a vague gut feeling, or the dreaded phrase: “I just feel it’s true.”

But this so-called truth is not what we’ll explore today.

A Course in Miracles offers us something far better than a hunch or a cleverly crafted conspiracy. The Course gives us a test…yes, a real one…to know whether something is capital-T ‘True’.

And no, it’s not a multiple-choice quiz or an IQ exam. It’s short. It’s clear. And it’s lovingly uncompromising.

In the Textbook, Chapter 14, Section XI, paragraph 5, it says:

“You have one test, as sure as God, by which to recognize if what you learned is true:

if you are wholly free of fear of any kind, and if all those who meet or even think of you share in your perfect peace, then you can be sure you have learned God’s lesson, and not your own.”

Oof. 😱

That’s quite a bar, isn’t it?

Because really, how often can you say that everyone who even thinks of you spontaneously drops into an inner jacuzzi of peace?

But that’s the whole point. Truth, according to the Course, isn’t something you say, it’s something you radiate. It’s not what you know, it’s what you are.

Truth doesn’t need proof, PowerPoint, or preaching.

It is felt as peace.

And here comes the bonus line, a kind of spiritual first-aid kit for those moments when you catch yourself knowing better, wanting to explain, or feeling triggered, and deep down, you already know: I’ve lost my peace…

In T.14.XI.6 is written: “I do not know what anything, including this, means.

And so I do not know how to respond to it. And I will not use my own past learning as the light to guide me now.”

Ahhh. Relief.

No pressure to figure it all out.

No fear of being wrong.

Just a quiet willingness to not know.

And in that not-knowing, the deepest peace often reveals itself.

But wait….are there really so few enlightened people around?

You might be thinking: I feel that peace around Mooji, Rupert Spira, or Eckhart Tolle… but when I look around me, it’s pretty quiet on the enlightenment front.

That’s understandable.

But here’s a Course-flavored twist:

“There is no order of difficulty in miracles.”

And likewise….no hierarchy in awakening.

What if those around you, yes, even the grumpy neighbor or the conspiracy-loving Facebook friend, are already enlightened at their core… but have simply forgotten?

And what if you are the one to remind them? Not by preaching, but simply by being peaceful.

A truly awakened mind doesn’t go around announcing it.

It sees the light in others, even when they still believe they’re asleep.

That’s the real shift: from “I’m awake and you’re not,”

to “We’re both light, I just happen to remember right now.”

So maybe the world is full of sleeping Buddhas, tucked inside human stories and daily worries, waiting for one quiet, peaceful presence to reflect them back to themselves.

That presence might just be you.

The Test of Truth is not a pass-or-fail exam.

It’s a mirror, to gently ask: Have I chosen fear or love as my guide today?

And if the answer is “fear”…no worries !!

You’re never more than one holy instant away from a shift. Tomorrow always comes with a miraculous retake.

With love and light,

G.
