The Light that always speaks….then (New Testament) and now (ACIM)

Imagine a special day: it started first thing in the morning. Your alarm didn’t go off. At least, you thought it didn’t. You jumped out of bed feeling like you was already late. Late for something important. But what? It was Saturday.

Your ACIM-student heart was still racing when a gentle thought walked quietly into your awareness, like it tiptoed in wearing socks:

“Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God.”

You sat down on the edge of the bed.

“Oh… that,” you thought.

And just as you sank back into the pillow, you heard a voice:

“My kingdom is not of this world. You’re not late. You just dreamt you were.”

With a jolt, you jumped out of bed. And run downstairs. Who was that?

After a while you calm down, but disaster struck. No coffee.

Your inner drama queen screamed, “How will I survive this day without my sacred morning brew?”

Then came the second whisper, fresh and unexpected:

“Forgiveness is the key to happiness.”

Forgiveness? For who? The coffee gods?

And then there He was again, it was like he was leaning against the counter and said:

“Once Peter came to me and said, ‘Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?’

I answered to him, ‘I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.’

The same I say to you….go ahead, start with your…. coffee supplier,” He winked.”

Around lunchtime, you received a message from someone who had… challenged you yesterday, with one of those texts. Passive-aggressive, sugarcoated, peace-killing.

Your fingers twitched over the keyboard when a third Course thought strolled in your mind like a peacemaker at a party:

“The Holy Spirit looks not on sin, but on what can be loved instead.”

You reread the message. Slowly. You imagined love.

And then, again, right on time, Jesus whispered warmly:

“I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.”

You sent a reply with a smiling heart emoji. And meant it.

Later that afternoon, you passed a mirror.

You looked in, and the classic self-attack landed: “You look tired.”

But almost instantly, a sacred correction came:

“I am as God created me.”

You paused. Then mumbled: “Not bad for a divine creation,”

And there He was again, now leaning casually in the doorway with a grin:

“You are the light of the world.”

Even with pillow hair.

That evening you turned on the news.

War. Chaos. Division. Your heart sank.

You closed your eyes.

“The world I see holds nothing that I want.”

And you let out a long, deep sigh. Not of despair, but of recognition.

Jesus, ever close, gently placed a hand on your shoulder and said,

“They have eyes to see but do not see.”

“But you’re beginning to look with love again,” He added.

And for the first time that day, you felt completely at peace.

Sometimes, it only takes one day, a regular, coffee-less, slightly messy day to remember who walks with you.

Not with thunder and lightning, but with quiet jokes, sacred wisdom, and infinite patience.

With a Course in your heart and Jesus by your side, even your most human moments become holy.

With love and light,

G.
