“ Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God.”

In almost all the reflections I write here on facebook I add this sentence,

because this one sentence makes a thousand pages unnecessary if only we’d get it !

Someone once asked:

“Why is A Course in Miracles such a thick book?” And why does it repeat so many times what seems themes?

And the answer came with a smile: because people are dummies….haha, no sorry the answer was:

“Because if people truly understood and applied this one sentence,

they wouldn’t need any of the others.”

Short. Sweet. Divine.

And yet… here we are, hundreds of lessons, pages, and chapters later, still letting this one sentence sink in.

Why? Because it doesn’t speak to the part of you that collects information.

It speaks to the part of you that knows. The part that doesn’t shout, but whispers. The part that remembers home.

Let’s gently open it up, line by line, not with the mind of a scholar, but with our hearts ready to remember.

1. “Nothing real can be threatened.”

What is real? Not your job. Not your body. Not your latest drama with your computer or your angry neighbor.

According to the Course, only Love is real.

Not love with conditions, stories, or expiration dates, but pure, changeless, eternal Love, the kind that doesn’t need to prove anything.

And if that’s what’s real, then it’s also invulnerable.

You…the real You…cannot be harmed.

Not by a pandemic, not by a heartbreak, not by time.

If you’re thinking, “Well that’s great, but my back still hurts,”

don’t worry. We’re not here to deny experience, just to gently reframe what it’s for.

Pain becomes the ego’s alarm bell… but also your invitation back to Truth.

2. “Nothing unreal exists.”

Now this one might make your eyebrows twitch.

What do you mean, unreal things don’t exist? Ofcourse they don’t …but is my bank account also unreal ? My relationship? The news?

Yes they are also unreal ! But the Course isn’t saying those things don’t appear. It’s saying they aren’t u l t i m a t e l y true.

They’re part of the dream, shifting, changing, dissolving.

Ever woken up from a nightmare and realized you were never actually in danger? That’s what this is.

Fear, guilt, conflict, they feel real, until they don’t. Until you wake up.

3. “Herein lies the peace of God.”

Ah…..There it is…..The payoff….The point….The promise.

True peace isn’t found in the fixing of the world. It’s not a quiet moment after a storm. It’s the unshakeable awareness that:

Nothing real can be lost.

Nothing unreal needs to be defended.

And you are already Home.

This sentence is the spiritual equivalent of putting down your sword.

You don’t need to fight. You don’t need to chase. You don’t need to prove or protect. You just need to REMEMBER.

Next time you feel anxious, disappointed, or like you need to control everything…pause….Take a breath….And say to yourself:

“Nothing real can be threatened.”

“Nothing unreal exists.”

“Herein lies the peace of God.”

And maybe, just maybe, you’ll smile. Because suddenly, everything feels a little lighter.

With love and light,

G.
